Spring Summer 2013

C_SS13_36967_14A.jpg
C_SS13_36967_14A.jpgIMG_7351.jpgIMG_7026.jpgThe summer of 2013 will be exotic at Thomsen. Under the shade of palm trees at the Cité de la Mode, Alix Thomsen has created a collection in the colors of the islands with subtle prints. Cuts a bit retro transcend the modernity of Thomsen collections.

This year the motto is: classic but not old, current and colorful. Small light dress, necklaces African baskets, the Thomsen girl will be the best dressed to go dancing on the beach. And yet, this summer marks the arrival of a new jersey line and brings a breath of fresh air to the usual shirts. Maxi dresses and printed t-shirts, it is always the same idea: stripes for boys and flowers for girls.

After the beautiful faces of Lea Seydoux, Cécile Cassel and Lio, it was the turn of Lou Lesage to pose in the new campaign, enhanced by the photos of her mother Gil Lesage.
The collection makes sense in these images soft and poetic, straight out of the golden age of Cinecittà. Prints also agree with the decor of wood, awaken nostalgia for rural holiday.

From Point-à-Pitre to Paris, layers of Libertys pastel colored shirts with American long jersey dresses, spring 2013 is an invitation to travel.

THOMSEN CHORALE SS13

MG_9306-1024x682.jpgMG_9320-1024x682.jpgLE BARON ALLSTARS FORM CHOIR FOR THOMSEN COLLECTION

Thomsen is a young, independent, Parisian clothing line, that’s known for its cotton plaid shirts, designed by Alix Thomsen wife of Lionel Bensemoun (Le Baron, Nanashi, La Fidelité, La Clique).
Growing slowly with each new season (a pace that’s always best for grass roots, independent brands), Thomsen threw what should go down as one of the most original and unique presentations of the week in Paris.
Wearing the spring-summer collection was an allstar choir made up of the faces from Le Baron night-club. Singer and DJ Natalie Le Jeune alongside actress Cécile Cassel (who has her own band, Holly Siz) led the choir that included DJ Noemie Sunshine Ferst, DJ Greg Boust, Chloe Nataf, Nadége Winter (Brunch Bazar), infact many of the faces that are usually seen behind the decks or partying late into the night in the City Of Lights.
Like every capital city, Paris has its own tribes and each supports the creative endeavours of its members so it was a real family feel at the Thomsen presentation that was a group performance scored by producer Séverin. The track, just press play below, had the crowd gathered in a new basement room at the Nanashi Bento restaurant off Rue Charlot in the Marais, whooped and cheered as the bassline dropped.

THOMSEN AW12 CAMPAIGN

3.jpg
3.jpg4.jpg5.jpg14.jpgAlix Thomsen and her fiancé Lionel Bensemoun launched the Thomsen shirt line in 2009. They wanted to focus on classics for men and woman, meaning fancy, comfortable, stylish with an upbeat poetic twist, and deliberately unaffected by mood-swinging trends.

The cuts, all timeless, simple and carefully thought-out, remain ever-present year after year, while a new range of daring fabrics, quintessential to the brand, guarantees excitement turns up every season. Shirts are fitted, easy to wear, infused with a dash of dandy-like humor. Jackets are structured but limber, slightly nonchalant yet impeccable, and wear as easily as a cardigan would. The care Alix takes in choosing fabrics is obvious once anyone tries on her clothes. Poplin, cotton veils and woolen materials are The Chosen Ones and selected from the best producers in Japan, Italy and France.

Thomsen’s style is all about making opposites attract – in just the right way. Girls’ shirts are sexier thanks to their masculine allure, while boys’ jackets dare to be virile and seductive when made in Liberty fabric. Alix’s work dances airily on the thin line between the modernity of her Parisian life, and the nostalgia she feels for the clothes she herself grew up in. When it comes to garments and lifestyle, Alix is able to read what people close to her have on their mind. And since her friends are a major source of inspiration for her collections, and she spontaneously thinks of them when needing to embody the brand either in campaigns or catalogues.

The Parisian boutique reflects thomsen’s ideals to the core - both chic and playful. Luxuriant flower printed carpets and Lego-colored hangers are an offbeat, yet perfect match, while the uncompromising black walls are highlighted by bright pink rails. All around the store, pictures of the stylist’s loved-ones, dressed in Thomsen, offer customers a friendly welcome.   Thomsen - an elegant and loveable style, now travelling around the world, across Europe, Asia and America.
